Cold September Dawn

Madison House is being abandoned by all current renters at the end of this summer. A new lease begins in September, and we always found it very easy to fill all 6 bedrooms via Craigslist and such even if you can't find all people you know to live there, as it is very cheap for Ann Arbor and centrally located. I'm not sure what the rent is getting raised to, but when I lived there my bedroom was $375 or so, to give you an idea. You can also park cars on football game days which covers utilities for the entire fall, and all bills split 6-ways always helps, too. I would love to be able to help shepard someone who might use that space to its best potential instead of letting the landlord just put it on the open market. PLEASE contact me if you or anyone you know might be interested in living there, particularly if you want to continue the tradition... it's a great space. brandonzwa [at] gmail.com

Uh, Hi.

Yeah, I'm still alive. I moved to New York to work at an architecture and urban design firm. I have health insurance. I live in Hunters Point, Long Island City, Queens... think Midtown Detroit + views of the Chrysler Building. I'm even booking some shows at a local bar. It's not bad.

That said, yeah, I miss Michigan. So, if anyone still reads this, I'll be in Washtenaw County for two days, primarily in Ypsilanti. Friday at the Tap Room Annex, I fly-in to check out Chris Bathgate (see him in such places soon, as he'll shortly be touring internationally with Saturday Looks Good to Me and beyond), The Victrolas (Great Lakes Myth Society's Greg McIntosh), and Eric Kelly. Free.

Then, on Saturday, I put together this thing, and hope you all come out, because after that I'm off to the Dutchlands in the west and then back to the East Coast again:

Also, MetroTimes and Real Detroit Weekly were kind enough to help with publicity and be relatively generous when characterizing my fashion-sense. Hope to see you there.

End Times

Blogs are so 2003, right? I've been spending most of my online time updating my Flickr and Google Video accounts. In addition to the usual YerSpace.

Photos and video from Madisonfest coming soon.

Go to the last Summer Smash ever:

Also, go see Fred Thomas' last show before he leaves Michigan at the Dreamland Theater in Ypsilanti on Saturday. The incomparable and soon-to-be-internationally-acclaimed Chris Bathgate opens.

Oh So Quickly

Public Notice: Popular Lansing synth-rockers The Casionauts play their final show ever at Mac's tomorrow. They didn't play down here much, but I saw them four times over the years, and they were involved in a few of my very favorite shows ever:
